Our labrador/springer spaniel cross puppy is now 5 months old and growing fast. He seems to need longer and longer walks so today I trekked over to Cockington Court, its really only a mile away down the seafront and then along the water meadows to the beautiful thatched village of Cockington. The village can trace its history back to William the Conqueror who bequeathed the land to one of his faithful Barons William of Falaise, later to become William de Cockington. Now owned in trust by Torbay Borough council the Court houses function rooms, art galleries, blacksmith and glassblowing with 15 new workshops in the process of being built for skilled arts and craft workers. The grounds are truly beautiful and since having Murphy we have explored many of the walks through the wooded areas beyond the main gardens themselves. From Cockington the keen ramblers amongst you can walk to Totnes, a 10 mile hike but worth it, we did it last year but must admit had to get the bus back! For those...
